U.P. MI Pickaroons, Hookaroons & a Pike pole

Postby Double Ott » Fri Sep 07, 2012 5:32 pm

I've been collecting vintage logging tools for sometime now. Most of them come from the U.P. Michigan, rich in logging history.

On the right, two hookaroons, the orange one is stamped Snow & Nealley; None of the others pictured had a makers mark. Left top down, a hand made pickaroon from a single bit axe head, another pickaroon and a pole (mushroomed) hookaroon.

Top, a six foot Pike poll that was cut down (not by me) from a ten ft poll to make it easier to transport. Pike polls were used to move logs around when transporting them via water ways. Next a poll pickaroon, a hookaroon

Thanks for looking, Tom :)

Quality tools that I am sure could tell a 1000 stories and tall tales! Nice pics, thank you for sharing. I dont believe I have run across any of those out and about, so I will have to keep an eye open from now on.

But again, thanks for sharing!!!
